Kintsugi Thalassa Large Amphora, Smoke Fired Vessel

$750.00

Touched by the smoke and flame, this one-of-a-kind hand sculpted vessel was fired in an open-air sawdust and wood kiln with a combination of organic materials and metals that flash and fume creating the beautiful coloring and dramatic surface and celestial-like markings. The volatile process can result in small cracks or fissures, which are then healed with gold to preserve and repair the piece making it stronger using a technique known as kintsugi.
The surfaces change with rotation of each piece, revealing worlds within worlds, as the flame and materials mark each side of the vessel differently.

2024

One-of-a-kind.

Dimensions approx: 8 x 8 x 11.25

For decorative purposes, handle with care. Due to the smoke firing process this vessel does not hold water.
