Black Carbon Orb Vessel, Smoke-Fired
A truly unique and special vessel. Touched by the smoke and flame, this wheel thrown vessel was fired in an open-air sawdust and wood kiln with a combination of organic materials and metals that flash and fume creating the beautiful coloring and dramatic surface that reminds me of galaxies. The deep black carbonization shines and is metallic in places. The surfaces change with rotation of the piece, revealing worlds within worlds, as the flame and materials mark each side of the vessel differently.
approx.: 4.75 x 4.75 x 4.25”
one of a kind. pit fired pieces are decorative and do not hold water. if you would like to use for floral arrangements I often recommend sitting a glass jar inside.
