Touched by the smoke and flame, this one-of-a-kind hand built rattle art/object was fired in an open-air sawdust and wood kiln with a combination of organic materials and metals that flash and fume creating the beautiful coloring and dramatic surface and celestial-like markings. When given movement or shaken, it makes a gentle percussive sound.
The volatile process can result in small cracks or fissures, which are then healed with gold to preserve and repair the piece making it stronger using a technique known as kintsugi.
