The Seed Pod Sound Sculptures are shaped by hand and etched with infinite grooves. These tactile stoneware pods are inspired by nature hikes and walks along the coastal shores. Heightening the provocation, the hollow pods are filled with clay beads, offering percussive sound when given gentle movement. ”I wanted my Sound Sculptures to provoke an interaction. The process of clay involves touching and sculpting, the feel in your hands, moving, forming, pinching and molding it. With functional ware the interaction continues after the firing – holding a spoon, sipping from a cup – while we typically refrain from touching finished sculpture.
