“ These sculptural pieces began as a divergence from my functional work. I enjoy that there can be an interaction with these closed forms. Each one is a rattle, a small sound sculpture, when lifted and given movement, you are met with a soothing, gentle sound. ”

  • My Spirit Eye collection features one-of-a-kind motifs with suns, moons, stars and eyes — all symbols of positivity for me. With their deeps meanings throughout time and across cultures, I love how people share their own specific connections to these symbols. The series began when I started seeing eyes in all places they were not, so I painted them into my work. I find the process meditative to hand paint or sgraffito carve each piece with the intricate detailed lines.

  • In my Snake collection, hand painted and sgraffito carved serpents slither across surfaces of mugs, dishes, vessels and art/objects. Snakes resonate with me as a symbol of regeneration, rebirth and renewal, a reference to their historical significance in mythology and nature. I’ve never really feared snakes and always found awe of their beautiful patterns and coloration. I carve several recurring motifs in the snake skin like stars, mountains and arrows, touching themes of guidance, forward momentum and positive transitions.

  • Inspired by collecting objects on nature hikes and walks along coastal shores, the texture of my Seed Pod collection invites your touch. A collection of vessels, art/object and decorative tabletop pieces is hand built through processes of pinching, slab forms and coil building, then carved with infinite grooves. The mediative carving is intuitive and unique on each piece though several patterns recur, suggestions of seed pods, flowers blossoming, fanned out leaves and flowing waves.
